What brought Curie and Einstein together at the Solvay Conference?

Today we will go to Brussels/Solvay together on October 29, 1927. What was the goal that gathered Schrödinger, Einstein, Marie Curie and many other scientists( 17 Nobel laureates) on the same autumn day in Brussels?

First of all, what is this Solvay Conference ❓ ❔

The Solvay Conference is a conference held every three years and deals with unresolved issues in the fields of physics and chemistry.

The 1911 Solvay Conference, known as the first physics conference in history, convened in Brussels under the chairmanship of Lorentz.

The photo above was taken in 1927 at the fifth Solvay Conference, where the brightest scientific minds in history met.

Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Marie Curie were just a few of the important names in this meeting. More than half of these scientists have been awarded Nobel Prizes, mostly in physics and chemistry.🏆

In addition, Marie Curie, the only woman seen in the photograph, is the only scientist to win a Nobel Prize in two different fields.👩‍🔬

So what brought Curie and Einstein together at the Solvay Conference?

(I set this context because Curie is the only female scientist.)

Do you think the common point of these people you see in one frame is that they are geniuses? Or was it the ability to make connections that had not been made before between the different connections we define as “creativity” that brought them together at this conference?

What gathers these people at this conference ; Is it their own individual genius or is it the product of a scientific culture that has come to life with the society that can work together and communicate even if it does not understand each other well? 🤔

The power that brings scientists together is that they come together with people like themselves and exchange ideas to be beneficial to humanity.

Before geniuses; the cultural, social and political environment that created them should be analyzed. It is an environment that combines genius with intellectual work to act collectively, to establish complex social organizations, to work together,create sustainable shared stories.

But is an environment of organized and free thought sufficient for intellectual work?

— no.

What is required for intellectual work is not only order but also continuity. All great work has been done with continued patience.

Newton discovered universal gravity because he always thought about it . Time is unique value as it cannot be returned forever. Time should be used carefully, but hard work tables with predetermined hours and very well prepared are not recommended by educator Jules Payot.

Contrary to popular belief, the scientific and literary studies that most honor the human spirit are not the product of intelligence, they created with passion and hard work.

Genius people are created by the cultivation of the will, because all the high qualities attributed to intelligence are actually the characteristics of the energy and perseverance of the will.

In this century, we have concentrated all our strength on the conquest of the outside world. All we did was multiply our ambitions and awaken our desires. Humanity, dominated by its ambitions and desires, rapidly magnified its social problems.➕♾️

Social problems make it necessary to change our education system urgently and radically. The system should be updated as an education system that trains individuals who know how to manage time and learning to learn, rather than an academician-oriented education system.

With the right tools, anyone can conquer and create themselves, even to the most hopeless cases. He/she/they/them can establish a meaningful and happy life as his own peace.

We wish to live a life that can be remembered and truly lived by accompanying each other in our self-creation process.
